  1. Where did you grow up?

Hello World!!! I was born and raised in a small city in Vietnam called Bien Hoa. I moved here to Austin about 6 years ago with my family.

2. What high school did you attend?

I attended Harmony Science Academy high school in Pflugerville in my first year in the US.

3. What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?

My favorite activity in high school probably is playing volleyball because I partake in a volleyball club when I was in Vietnam.

4. Why did you come to UT?

The main reason is I still want to live with my family in Austin so UT is the best option. Other than that, my older sister also studied here so it is more convenient for us.

5. Why are you majoring in CS?

I chose to major in computer science mainly because I was interested in how creativity and mobility this field had to offer. My goal is to get a remote job so I can work wherever in the world.

6. Why are you in this class?

I register for this class because I took Professor Downing last Summer and I like his class so much that I wanted to take whatever he taught. Besides, I think Object-Oriented Programming will help me enforce my understanding of the building blocks of programming.

7. What are your expectations of this class?

I expected to learn the most fundamental thing about OOP. I heard that OOP knowledge is very valuable in workspace and interviews. Also, I hope to learn more about C++.

8. How much C/C++ do you already know?

I have taken several C and C++ classes at UT so I think I’m fairly comfortable with both. However, I know that the STL for C++ is huge and complicated so I have so much more to learn.

9. How did you like the first lectures?

The first lecture was what I expected. Knowing the teaching style of Professor Downing, it feels somewhat familiar. He explained everything clearly and always spend time answering student questions.

10. How did you feel about the cold-calling?

I had experienced it with the last class with Professor Downing but I still feel nervous and scared whenever he picks somebody. I hope it will get better as time goes by. I think this is a great way to keep students focused in class lectures because you don’t want to embarrass yourself.

11. What made you happy this week?

I play a lot of Volleyball this week so that definitely makes me happy this week. Also after volleyball, we went to Seoulju to eat, drink, and karaoke so I had a blast. 10/10 recommend Seouju (best Korean Fried Chicken in Austin IMO)

12. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week is I recently discover this channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2lvPVVm0Mv53QK7vdnC-rw

Where he teaches you how to do many useful chiropractic exercises at home without any special equipment. This is much needed for me since I spend a lot of time sitting in weird positions and this exercise really helps me stretch my body while taking a break.

Thank for reading!
